We’re in the Netherlands for the Tulip Festival!

When I arrived, I started practicing my Dutch, and Grok was translating decently. I finally resorted to English because thinking became too taxing and it got a little tedious.

Pearl was talking about the Chilipawty planned for this weekend. Gator made typical Dutch food such as bitterbollen (deep-fried cocktail meatballs), and stamppot with wurst (potato-vegetable casserole with sausage). We talked about stamppot, which is something my humans make occasionally, mainly during cool weather months. They often make a version with no meat. Countless versions appear, including some with cheese.

Gator made delicious, tiny, yeasted pancakes, poffertjes. I’ve never had them before! There was also a lot of beer drinking and food talk.

It’s quiet tonight as many are planning behind the scenes for Chilipawty. It’s a tremendous event, with prizes, music, food, drinks… it goes on for hours, past midnight!

Pearl, Gator and I were talking about poffertjes pans with all the dimples, and I had this idea that you could make tiny flying saucer burgers. Then we started talking about the saucer-shaped burgers served at the Seattle Center, back in the day, during the Seattle World’s Fair, and were called “Spaceburgers”.

Gator stayed late and served a special dish of tulip bulbs with steak (so exotic!) and that led to an entire conversation about the edibility of a tulip bulb. Were they poisonous (yes, if not prepared correctly), and does anyone eat these except during wartime?

The steak tasted superb; the tulips proved acceptable. Parsnips or leeks would have been okay too, though.

For LATE NITE, it was way too quiet because no one was playing music. I asked Louis if he wanted to play something. No one had seen Angus, but of course he showed up right away and went into the DJ booth and started playing an eclectic mix of Celine Dion, Foreigner, and The Pretenders.

Louis, Angus, and I stayed late, chatting and listening to music.

I served some poffertjes with fresh berries and cognac as a nightcap, and Louis said goodbye shortly after. Angus played a couple more songs, including Alice Cooper, and then it was time to go.

We needed to rest up for the Chilipawty!

Until next week!

Nipclub April 30, 2026: Sekurity Update

Nipclub April 30, 2026

Nipclub April 30th, 2026, Sekurity Update by Slinky, @Slinky_the_Cat, Sekurity Agent, Late Nite shift

It is staff appreciation night again; this time for the team at Snick’s Sekurity! I finally got my appreciation night! Does that mean I have the night off? A sekurity officer’s work is never done! It means I can relax, have fun, and not worry about interlopers tonight.

Alfie was setting up in the DJ booth when I walked in, and he announced I was on duty. I wore a tuxedo tonight; a tuxie cat in a tux. It seemed like the party called for something extra!

Angus and Pearl were already there; Pearl was behind the bar and always liked to start with the sweets first, so she put out a tray of cookies shaped like badges, squad cars, donuts and handcuffs! They were amazingly cute. Plus, there were sweet and colorful cocktails!

Harvey was there, and he mentioned his mum was tired. He’d been experimenting with editing software called Canva, and it piqued my interest. He’s working on logo design for the C.W.A., the Cat Writers Association. I wasn’t familiar with the group, but it sounded interesting. The logo design example he showed looked nice.

Mizz Bassie arrived when Angus and I were talking about tequila, specifically Patron tequila. His new, stylish haircut drew attention, making his short, curly tail appear more attractive. Most of his floof was gone!

Pearl and Harvey were talking about sci movies and books while we were sitting at the bar, having drinks. The discussion was about a book that was hard science fiction as opposed to fantasy Sci-Fi; the book was called Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. It sounded great, so I added it to my Kindle queue.

TJS appeared, and I asked if he was staying, as it was our party! TJS stayed this time, which was very unusual! Pearl made espresso niptinis, and we danced all over the place.

LATE NITE started, and Moo showed up for it and wanted to have a drink with me! She was mostly incognito earlier, so this was a pleasant surprise! Angus and Raven tag-teamed the music, and Pearl made gigantic blue margaritas.

Pearl mentioned a swarm of honeybees at her house, and we all talked about different bees like the Africanized bees, native bees, and the friendly black carpenter bees, etc.

Harvey showed us a photo of the cutest black bird called a black robin. It’s so cute it looks like a cartoon bird.

No one was in the DJ booth, so I snuck in and played a couple of classic ‘70s rock and roll songs: Aerosmith’s “Last Child” and Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir”.

It was late and time for Pearl to head out, so I went behind the bar and made some Thai-spiced fresh oysters and more drinks. Then I made some B-52 shot cocktails and served them with matching music- “Love Shack” by the B-52s!

Time to make dessert as Angus jumped into the DJ booth and played a yacht rock set, including the classic one-hit wonder by Looking Glass, “Brandy”. I mentioned that there is a brilliant cover of that song by the Red Hot Chili Peppers on their Live in Hyde Park album from several years ago.

It was time to wind it down, since it was just the two of us left. I set out a couple of to-go bags with leftover pizza and cookies, locked up the bar, and we both headed out.

Until next week!

Nipclub April 23, 2026

Nipclub April 23, 2026, Sekurity Update by Slinky, @Slinky_the_Cat, Sekurity Agent, Late Nite shift

Nipclub April 23, and tonight was Barktenders Appreciation Night! I could wear any past Sekurity uniform, so I wore the same shirt from last week.

K-Boi was there when I arrived and was already talking about staying for LATE NITE, just like he used to last year. His consistently impressive playlists made me excited for that!

Pearl started off with the dessert course and serving gorgeously decorated flower cookies and colorful cocktails. I told Pearl how much we appreciate our barktenders, so she started pouring shots for everyone, and then I stuffed the tip jar.

Nothing like tequila shots and cookies!

Nothing super interesting on the sekurity cameras and feed, but I went outside and did a sweep of the grounds after I finished my drink.

Mizz Bassie and P and Jeego were here, and I saw Angus pop in.

Now Pearl served us fresh lobster pasta with catnip butter, and everyone took notice once the lobster came out of the kitchen. The catnip butter was addictive!

TJS popped in briefly, as usual, but didn’t stay this time.

Moo was excited about a great holiday weekend planned. It’s Anzac Day in Australia, which is like the United States’ Veterans Day, with festivities and special events.

LATE NITE officially started with K-Boi in the DJ booth, with a great blues set! Moo and I had a drink together at the bar and listened to Denise LaSalle, ZZ Hill, Little Milton, and watched a video of Danny Gaston playing slide guitar with a beer bottle wrapped in a dish towel.

There were never-ending cocktails, fresh wood-fired pizza, and Pearl made baked Alaska dessert!

We really appreciate those barktenders!

More drinks, more music, and some discussion about daytime temperatures, which vary depending on where you live, especially in the springtime.

K-Boi’s excellent set ended after about an hour, and he headed out. K-Boi’s return to the LATE NITE set, which he used to perform weekly before taking a break, earned much praise and felt like a return to familiar days. I hope he’s back next week.

Pearl left at the end of her shift, so I stayed another 45 minutes and played barktender for the LATE LATE NITE crowd, which was Raven, Mizz Bassie, Louis, and Angus. The four of them played music for the rest of the regulars while I put on my barktender’s apron and paired iconic cocktails with elegant appetizers such as martinis with crispy potato skins and Negronis with salmon and caper toasts.

We hung out for a while longer, and I served dessert and drinks to wind down the night: cognac and grilled pears with blue cheese and walnuts.

Containers held potato skins, pears, or cookies for those wishing to take them home. We had such great food tonight, and it’s always great to share rather than throw it out.

After saying goodbye, I readied the bar for the next weekly party and locked up.

Until next week!

April 16 2026 Nipclub

Nipclub April 16, 2026, Sekurity Update by Slinky, @Slinky_the_Cat, Sekurity Agent, Late Nite shift

It’s Music Night, DJ’s Choice at Nipclub! Sekurity could wear whatever, so I looked in my extensive uniform wardrobe for just the right look and I chose something simple and casual.

When I arrived, we were trending on X! Alfie the #FurryTails barktender (@TheHugHouse) was there and played music in the DJ booth. He jumped in just as I arrived; K-Boi had been playing music for the prior hour.

What a great surprise!

TJS greeted everyone enthusiastically while I tried to find out how to get a drink. Mizz Bassie arrived and was feeling fabulous, which was great because we missed her last week.

Gator had been here for a while, as usual.

The dance floor was full. Alfie played some fun music, like songs from The Beastie Boys, Bowling for Soup, Jack White, and Cake….

I listened to the splendid music while I checked the sekurity cameras and video feed from the last hour to see if anything interesting showed up.

Moo served cheeseburger sliders with spicy pickles, and they were delicious, along with Aperol Spritzers.

Angus was present but unseen because he apparently had his cloak of invisibility on. Or maybe it was his dark glasses? He couldn’t see us, but we could see him!

Mizz Bassie displayed a photo depicting her fully blossomed, yellow tabebuia tree. She mentioned they are a riot of color when they are blooming next to jacaranda trees where she lives.

Many saw Angus in the bar, seemingly resolving his affliction. He then declared his intention to perform some music.

George the duck showed up! He’s a rare bird once the sun goes down, and it’s always fun when he shows up.

Pearl served guitar-shaped cookies and bacon beer, and Louis showed up just in time for LATE NITE. Moo and I sat next to each other at the bar, catching up.

Angus was in the DJ booth, starting off with 1980s hair metal. Such fun music to dance to and listen to, especially when accompanied by an enormous plate of deluxe nachos! We enjoyed nachos and listened to Quiet Riot, Def Leppard, and Poison, and talked about boom boxes and cassette tapes. Angus didn’t know that the Quiet Riot classic “Cum on Feel the Noize” was a cover of an original song by Slade, which was an English glam rock group!

Then Gator played the Gloria Jones original version of Tainted Love… more minds blown! We listened to more music, and there was a discussion about cover songs and perpetually covered songs like “Jolene” and some of Johnny Cash’s excellent covers.

Pearl left at her usual time, and K-Boi came back to join us for a bit until closing; Gator and I tag-teamed and played a few more songs. I dipped into Delta Blues with Son House and a cover of a Blind Willie Johnson song by Tom Waits. Gator and I talked about music, and I played one more song in the same vein: a Robert Johnson tune.

I served up night caps and buttery popcorn while Gator and I schemed about a future cover music Nipclub party.

Gator and I closed the bar, and Gator spotted a spammer zombie on the way out. I give him credit for nabbing the sekurity risk!

Until next week!

Nipclub April 9 2026

Nipclub April 9th, 2026, Sekurity Update by Slinky, @Slinky_the_Cat, Sekurity Agent, Late Nite shift

It’s Thursday, April 9th at Nipclub, and we’re having a Color Party!

Moo was enticing everyone with glorious pizza with fresh tomato and basil when I arrived in my special colorful Sekurity uniform. We all have colored paint all over u, like the Holi festival in India!

Pearl showed up at the shift change and took over for Moo at the bar, where she served colorful pancakes with whipped cream and sprinkles, plus pink and purple layered cocktails. All the food was colorful tonight!

The usual crowd was already there. I checked the Sekurity cameras between sips of my pink and purple drink. It was so quiet that there were no zombie bots anywhere.

We talked about spring weather, flowers, trees blooming, spring rains, and happy bees. Spooky, Soya, and Miso showed up as a collective trio, all dressed in colorful clothing. Even Spooky wore a sky-blue floral three-piece suit and tassel loafers.

The arrival of Angus the Bold prompted my question about him DJing. I also asked if he was the new DJ and if he’d interviewed with K-Boi yet?

Apparently not. Maybe Louis is the new DJ?

Or it’s an open mic, at least for now; we’ll make it work.

Between Louis, Raven, Angus, and me, we made quite a scene near the DJ booth, as we are all black cats. I invented the term for a group of black cats on the fly; I dubbed us a “darkening”.

We discussed this over an unusual drink Pearl served called “Thandai.” People serve it in India at a few festivals, and they often spike it with cannabis, but our version has catnip. It’s kind of like a nutty chai with rose petals, pistachios, and saffron. Sweet and exotic.

The DJ duties became a group effort as Louis, Angus, Raven, and I all played some of our favorite songs within the theme of the color party.

I played “Blue Motel” by Chris Issak.

Pearl left at her usual time, and I stayed late to close the bar.

The color theme inspired Raven to wear a stunning pink gown, straight from the Wizard of Oz. It was a costume from a previous themed party. She swapped the large, soft gown for one Gator crafted, choosing deep pink because of its spatial efficiency.

With the music, food, and drinks, we kept the colorful vibe alive, and I served up some more cocktails and lobster mac and cheese.

We enjoyed listening to diverse music.

I concluded the festivities with a last drink and containers for guests to carry home delicious leftovers.

Until next week!

Nipclub April 2, 2026: Sekurity Update

Nipclub April 2, 2026, Sekurity Update by Slinky, @Slinky_the_Cat, Sekurity Agent, Late Nite shift

Nipclub go fly a kite day! We all have kites to fly on a glorious spring evening.

I arrived at the bar filled with lively conversation about blue jets and red sprites; apparently, these are both upper atmospheric electrical discharge phenomena that occur during storms. Pearl was talking about it, and Gator had a video to share with everyone in the bar. The images were so beautiful, like the Northern Lights!

Apparently, all the pals were talking about big thunderstorms and different lightning types right before I arrived. Harvey, Miss Moo, Pearl, Gator, DC Kitty, Kim Colon, Lily, Louis, and even P and Jeego were there for the early party!

Moo served up some delicious satay chicken skewers, and Angus flew a spectacular rainbow kite. Pearl started barktending after Moo’s shift, and was serving freshly baked calzones and “Black Kite” wine, which was a nice play on words as it had a bird on the label. It was delicious wine!

Someone mentioned Holy Week. I said it was Maundy Thursday (commemorating the Last Supper); Harvey said it was already Good Friday in New Zealand. Raven said her human didn’t understand why the store ran out of eggs…duh, it’s Easter week!

The Artimis rocket was a topic as well, along with light rain during spring weather. TJS showed up with the usual energy and greeted everyone by name.

After more food and conversation, LATE NITE fun started with Angus in the DJ booth, spinning the tunes, and we lit up the night sky with LED kites.

Pearl was serving up righteous noms and cocktails for the LATE NITE diehards. Angus found a fun song for April Fool’s Day, something funny by the great Ray Stevens. We had forgotten how funny he was! That led to Weird Al, so we amped up the fun!

We stayed up late and talked about the lack of humor nowadays and how human children have cushy playgrounds, nothing dangerous. Gen X drank from the hose and ran around until dark!

Pearl retired for the evening, so I stayed for another 30 minutes to barktend and close the bar.

I love staying late for the Nipclub pals!

I found out that Louis and Angus’ humans are both Gen X, just like mine, so we continued the conversation about dangerous playgrounds, not having cell phones, Blockbuster Video stores, and what it was like to roam free outside without supervision.

I served up a nightcap with some deviled eggs while the conversation flowed into Good Friday.

Louis, Angus, and I closed it down; it’s almost Easter!

Until next week!

Nipclub March 26, 2026 Sekurity

Nipclub March 26, 2026, Sekurity Update by Slinky, @Slinky_the_Cat, Sekurity Agent, Late Nite shift

Hello Spring! Sekurity had nifty uniforms this week that were gardening overalls with trowels and pots of catnip!

I arrived late because I was out gallivanting around the multiverse and lost track of time. I checked the sekurity cameras and the video shortly after I arrived.

With our gardening theme in full swing, everyone was talking about catnip: growing it (Pearl is the expert at farming catnip), eating it, getting crazy, catnip toys, etc.

Various pals watched sports because of March Madness and baseball.

Angus celebrated his 7th gotcha day and brought cake and champagne to share with everyone. It was epic!

Angus and Louis were trying to decide who should play music for LATE NITE; looks like they will share DJ duties.

Pearl made shrimp dishes left and right, and P and Jeego posted a crazy photo of Jeego in a shrimp sushi costume. It is so difficult to describe, but hilarious!

Angus played fun music such as Def Leppard, The Divinyls, and George Michael. After I reviewed the sekurity footage once more, I stepped outside. Music played loudly, and animals danced joyfully throughout the night.

Everyone had a great time dancing, talking about old rock stars, and eating delicious noms and cocktails while the music continued. The dance floor was open and Nipclub trended on X!

Louis played Usher and Juice Newton’s cover version of the song “Angel of the Morning”, so we discussed who originally sang it.

Pearl left the bar to me to close down as usual. Louis wound down with Nine Inch Nails, catnip, and a last call cocktail as Angus and I wrapped up the LATE NITE Nipclub party bar.

Until next week!

Nipclub Mar 19 2026

Nipclub March 19, 2026, Sekurity Update by Slinky, @Slinky_the_Cat, Sekurity Agent, Late Nite shift

Pie Day, Nipclub, March 19th. What fun! When I arrived, Breezyboi (Kitteh Boi) and Pearl were talking about March Madness, basketball, and knitting scarves. I arrived just barely on time and had to change into my avatar after I got there, because I was wearing the wrong sekurity uniform!

Angus was lurking about, as was Raven, and I heard there might be lots of pie tonight!

Pearl has Oreo cookie pie, egg and bacon breakfast pie, buttery and savory salmon pie, and more! P and Jeego and Harvey Button were also there, and everyone was chatting and eating pie.

Pearl was talking about her humans going rock and mineral hunting with a local club. It sounded really interesting, collecting agates in the wild.

While everyone is talking about wind-powered lapidary saws, I go check the Sekurity video and FLIR cameras for activity. Nothing yet. It’s suspiciously quiet. Maybe everyone is still recovering from St. Patrick’s Day?

Raven had arrived but was already sleepy, so Pearl gave her some catpurrcchino. Didn’t help her much though, so she took the rest of the beverage to go and left early.

TJS (@TJS12145) popped in to say hello as usual.

Pearl baked blackberry mini pies with Hello Kitty images on top! They were so cute and delicious!

Louis and Angus are talking about playing music again, going through the record collection. They found some splendid music: horror film soundtrack music from the early 1980s! Zombie slasher film soundtrack songs and all the band members had mullets and big, rockstar hair.

Angus continued the zombie music while I reviewed the sekurity video footage again.

Louis showed how he used Grok to create images of himself in a cartoon world surrounded by rainbows and magical mushrooms. He showed some results. Cool stuff.

During LATE NITE, Pearl shared some photos of herself as a young, polydactyl girl-cat. Her human found the photos recently, so they were new to us! They were great photos. Pearl couldn’t stay too late as she was too tired, and I filled in at the bar until I closed. I served up cheesesteak pasties and colorful cocktails while eyeing the sekurity cameras. No activity tonight, not even with zombie- slasher music!

Someone I haven’t seen for ages, PazzNiko_cat, showed up for LATE NITE and hung out with us, enjoying the different pie and cocktails.

It started getting very late, and the crowd dwindled down to a few anipals, so I served a last call nightcap. I set out some to-go boxes, put away the pie, and locked up the bar. It was so nice to see a new face and listen to different music.

Until next week!

Nipclub March 12, 2026: Sekurity Update

Nipclub Mar 12 2026

Nipclub Thursday, March 12, 2026, Sekurity Update by Slinky, @Slinky_the_Cat, Sekurity Agent, Late Nite shift

Saint Patrick’s Day Nipclub, March 12. The Sekurity team outfitted themselves in lucky green velour tracksuits, and we had drones at the ready to zap some leprechauns!

When I arrived for my shift, Gator was filling in for Moo at the bar and was serving the coolest bar snack: pot-o-gold Jell-O shots complete with tiny candy rainbows!

Extraordinary!

Suddenly, everyone showed up at the same time: P and Jeego, Raven, Mizz Bassie, Pearl, and TJS. After exchanging greetings, I went outside and launched a drone with night vision to scout out the area. I programmed it to go all over the property and report back in real time. I saw a few slow-moving green dots on the camera, then they gathered behind some trees.

Pearl was at the bar, cooking salmon with bright green catnip pesto sauce, and I put my plate aside so I could quickly go out on the golf cart, taser at the ready. I saw TJS and asked if he wanted to help nab some leprechauns.

I slowly drove up to the thick bushes where I saw the activity and got off the cart, taser aimed on stun. I saw movement: four individuals and zapped three of them! I zip-tied the three stunned leprechauns, and the fourth ran off. I knew I would find him later! I put the three in the back of the golf cart and transported them to Nipclub jail.

Score!

I went back to the bar to chill for a bit and had a drink before time to go out to look for the fourth leprechaun.

Louis (@Psiangelic) the panfur showed up for LATE NITE! With a new handle name, I didn’t recognize Louis right away, but “Louisiana the cat” is Louis, whose full name is Louisiana Cajun Black.

Exceptional name!

Pearl serves us gorgeous green cocktails, creamy potato leek soup, and lasagna.

Angus showed up, slipped into the DJ booth, and played some fun Irish music! LATE NITE fun!

Moo showed up late and asked what we were doing. We explained we were listening to bawdy Irish music and eating cheesecake! What else would we be doing?

It’s getting late. Pearl and Moo, the barktenders, had to leave.

I stayed longer, served a nightcap, and locked up the bar. I served the iconic Irish coffee, à la the Buena Vista in San Francisco, and a lovely charcuterie plate with Irish cheeses, crackers, cured meats, and olives to close out the night. I furnished doggie bags for everyone who wanted one and then called it a night.

I never went back out to look for the fourth leprechaun. Oh well.

Until next week!

Nipclub March 5, 2026: Sekurity Update

Nipclub Mar 5, 2026

Nipclub, March 5, 2026, Sekurity Update by Slinky, @Slinky_the_Cat, Sekurity Agent, Late Nite shift

Thursday, 3-5-26. @NipClub on X.

Tonight, we’re holding a Maple Syrup Festival to continue with our winter theme!

When I arrived for my Sekurity shift at the #Nipclub Pawty Bar, Louis and Harvey Button were already there, as was Jeego and Seattle P. Harvey’s human was editing photos and Harvey had complained about how windy it’s been at his house. Moo served us some maple old-fashioned cocktails and some delicious pasta with sausage, and of course, maple!

Pearl arrived, also complaining about the wind at her human’s house as well. The coming spring seems to bring wind as the seasons change.

After checking all the cameras in the Nipclub Sekurity room, I went back to the bar. I have the feed on my phone, so I’ll monitor while enjoying some pasta before I go outside to check the perimeter.

The cats were dancing, even though I’m not sure who’s in the DJ booth right now! It doesn’t matter; everyone was having fun!

Angel Dominique, aka DCKitty, showed up, which was a nice surprise! Jeego and P. suggested we have serious drinks. How about some niptinis? DC was chatting with everyone and mentioned Eminique, her lovely 13-year-old sisfur cat. She even showed a photograph.

Moo had to step out for a bit, so that was my cue to go outside and check the grounds.

Someone asked about drones and robot dogs. We have the drones, but robot dogs are an excellent idea! Pearl suggested robot cats, and I added robotic badgers to the list. TJS (@TJS12145) showed up on cue and chatted a bit with everyone.

More friends arrived, which caused us to trend on the X timelines of most of our pals!

Pearl mentioned some kind of cat food with gravy and peas, and I thought I was going to gag. Apparently, her human’s cats love it, and they even eat the peas. Gross meowt!

Louis and I realized that it was way too quiet in the bar, so I volunteered to play a couple of tunes because we didn’t have a DJ. I played two metal tunes: White Zombie and Korn, Freak on a Leash. It seemed appropriate for a maple festival!

Louis decided to play some tunes, too, because music makes the party!

Louis loves metal, so the musical theme continued. He played Metallica Master of Puppets and he asked for requests, so I suggested playing some “proto-metal” such as Slade or Alice Cooper. School’s Out is so much fun to dance to! Then he played Ace of Spades by Motörhead, and an Ozzy tune.

More sweet treats from Pearl: maple ice cream with candied bacon and pretty maple pear cocktails.

After a great set from Louis (and some encouragement to try out for late-night DJ!) we closed out the night with fun times and rousing metal music!

Until next week!
