Nipclub, June 18th, 2026, Sekurity Update by Slinky, @Slinky_the_Cat, Sekurity Agent, Late Nite shift

Game and fish night? We’ve gone fishing!

I had a squad car, a nifty uniform, and I checked fishing licenses. Gator, Pearl, Jeego, and the usual crowd were there, and Moo had just finished her barktending shift, so she will return later.

I had to check Jeego’s fishing license as she had a huge golden fish. Is that legal? Pearl served Hamm’s beer and custom ‘gone fishing’ cookies while I questioned Jeego. She said, “No license,” so I blew my whistle and ran after her.

Jeego ran off while Gator asked if cats could fish without a license. I said, “Not in this park!” I wrote Jeego a ticket, but Jeego had disappeared! I figured she wouldn’t hide for very long, especially when we started grilling all the fish that we’d legally caught.

Pearl served up some salmon Gator made; butterflied, grilled and served with lemon slices and ocean-blue cocktails with candy fish floating in them.

Mizz Bassie showed up. Everyone was busily chatting; I couldn’t keep up as I had to go out and patrol the park.

Raven showed up and said something about her human rinsing hair dye out of her hair. Sounds like a typical human thing to do, dyeing their fur!

Jeego still lurked about, and Pearl served blackened fish with lemon and butter, with a selection of wines. TJS arrived and LATE NITE started on time. We drank wine and snarfed down buttery fish.

Bunty showed up; haven’t seen him for ages! He’s a major in the Zombie Squad, ZSHQ. Louis arrived and negotiated with Angus for DJ booth rights and playlists for LATE NITE.

Chefs in the Nipclub kitchens prepared a special dessert, maple pecan sourdough pudding cake à la mode! Wow meow! Oh, and flying fish-flavored beer. No, wait! Flying Fish brand lemon-flavored beer!

We danced to goth symphonic metal music (Nightwish), served up by Louis in the DJ booth! We all danced! However, Louis had a counterpoint music set with Jimmy Buffett songs! What a contrast! I couldn’t wrap my head around it. Louis found some techno with throat singing that was mind-blowing! I’m a new fan of Ummet Ozcan! Louis killed it with the more obscure music, such as Lacuna Coil, and in a total counterattack, Angus played Christopher Cross, “Sailing!” Then Nightwish vs. another Christopher Cross song. It was the weirdest musical combination I’d ever witnessed.

After Pearl went home, I made some blue drinks in fish-shaped tumblers and smoked salmon canapés. Then I caught Angus fishing illegally, so I wrote him a ticket. As I gave it to him, I mentioned paying a fine, and he asked what it was: Could he pay $5 or could he clean up the bar? Angus tried to get out of the fine and tried to convince me he could sing for his supper. No way; clean up or sign up for the 16-hour online course about fishing rules and etiquette. Gator asked if there was a test, and Angus considered his options.

Louis went back into the DJ booth and played a few rock songs by Ghost and Rob Zombie. He played a classic Rob Zombie tune, “Dracula,” to close out the night.

Moo showed up for a final nightcap and snack, and I escorted her to her car and closed down the bar. I never found Jeego again, so I’ll mail the ticket or save it until next week!

Until next week!

Nipclub June 11 2026 sekurity update

Nipclub Sekurity Report, Thursday, June 11, 2026, Late Shift

We were in Australia tonight for the historic gold rush! It’s a ye olde timey party with grainy, sepia-toned avatars. Harvey, K-Boi, and Pearl were here, as was chef and fashion designer Gator.

While spelunking near Lightning Ridge, prior to arriving, I discovered an opal, though no gold. Lightning Ridge produced the world’s best black opals. We were basically camping and having fun panning for bits of gold, and we had the best provisions.

Pearl made beautifully moist skillet brownies as our starter; sweet treats for the miners! Pearl mentioned she found one small opal some time ago.

Raven was lurking, and K-Boi mentioned horrendously windy weather where he is: 65 miles per hour winds! What? Pearl said that’s normal where she is. Whoa! That seemed like a hurricane to me.

Tiger Tommy, the NASCAR kitty, showed up! He’d been in the outback DJ booth and snuck out and surprised us. He’s filling in for Alfie tonight. Tiger Tommy played Australian bands like AC/DC, the Split Endz, and more. He’s usually here much earlier, so I rarely see him.

Pearls served some savories, such as Shepherd’s pie and sausage rolls. There was a delicious stew, too. Apparently, typical outback miner grub!

If this is what the miners were eating, then sign me up!

Mizz Bassie showed up just in time for our feast! Pearl showed us a cool, vintage advertisement from what looked like the 1950s that featured slices of Treat lunch meat with pineapple.

The colors and graphics were excellent. Treat is like Spam, but a unique brand; a Spam analogue. So we talked about Treat vs. Spam. Very exciting discussion!

Harvey’s human took a painting workshop, and he showed us a work in progress, a beautiful illustration of a frog prince. It looked like the artist used watercolor paints, and the vibrant colors included greens with purple and pink.

LATE NITE began with more Australian music!

Pearl served us some Aussie cheesecake jelly slices that were something new to a few of us. Its appearance was quite striking, featuring cookie crumbs at its foundation, cheesecake within, plus a vivid fruit gelatin layer crowning it.

It was superb!

Pearl and Mizz Bassie became too tired to stay any later, and then Raven left so it was the LATE LATE NITE crew, and I was behind the bar.

Moo arrived late, just in time for me to open a nice bottle of Australian Shiraz and pour 2 glasses as she sat at the bar.

LATE NITE turned into a music-sharing session again, with The Hu, Digeridoo music, Somelinez, etc. We listened to all kinds of cool music: throat singing, indigenous voices, heavy metal bagpipes, and shamisen!

Our fun was so great that we lost track of time and LATE NITE continued an hour later than planned.

I served mini Shepards pies, coffee and cognac for our nightcaps. The discussion and listening were rewarding, as we all learned some new musical influences.

Until next week!

It’s a psychedelic 60s pawty!

Everyone was excited because Gator was back! He made sekurity the grooviest uniforms; we wore tie-dye suits with matching sunglasses.

Harvey and Raven were there when I arrived. I hadn’t seen Raven for ages! She gave me a kiss on the cheek, which made me blush! Harvey’s mum had a cold, so I asked Pearl to send her a cup of hot tea.

Mizz Bassie showed up in her psychedelic vintage VW bug. Pearl was serving pink petit fours and lava lamp shots. So trippy! Harvey admired Mizz Bassie’s car.

Harvey, Mizz, and Raven talked about the weather, particularly rain, and Harvey said they have a garden where his humans planted round carrots. Gardens are always fun to explore.

Calm security meant no spammers emerged. Our JustGiving link worked great and didn’t attract unwanted spam zombies. I checked the cameras throughout the night, but there was not much to report.

Pearl served a cool cocktail that reminded me of a tiki drink, and I asked if we’d ever had a tiki-themed party? A retro-luau, Trader Vic’s style shindig? No one remembered such an event, and Gator thought it was a fun idea, so he added it to the July pawty lineup.

I’m excited about listening to surf rock, Latin jazz and drinking out of pineapples! Count me in!

Delicious pesto pizza, prepared by Pearl, awaited guests at the bar when TJS arrived promptly to greet attendees.

Gator really loves pesto! We talked about tiki and how to make pesto, including variations with different nuts and herbs, etc. Pearl wasn’t that familiar with it, so we helped her with suggestions and recipes. Pearl said pine nuts grow in her area, so that was a bonus!

After the pizza, she made fresh grilled trout with fruit salsa and more psychedelic cocktails.

LATE NITE crept in, and all the discussion about pesto made us lose track of time so that we forgot about the music! The DJ booth stood empty, prompting me to encourage Angus to play music for us.

While waiting for Angus to get ready, I jumped into the booth and started playing a few late 60s classic songs from The Kinks, Traffic, and The Doors, keeping it psychedelic. Then Angus stepped into the DJ booth and played The Turtles and Simon & Garfunkel. It was so fun tag-teaming the music.

After Pearl left, I made some snacks: violet-colored Aviation cocktails and empanadas. TJS showed up for a proper conversation while we wound it down.

We had a lot of fun towards the end when Angus wore a wreath of flowers on his head and bopped in the DJ booth. We compared tails: his nubby and mine twisted, so we decided we were both special kittehs.

I served a nightcap and then closed the bar. It was too late to stay up any longer!

Until next week!

Nipclub May 28 2026

Nipclub May 28th, 2026, Sekurity Update by Slinky, @Slinky_the_Cat, Sekurity Agent, Late Nite shift

We had a Blue Moon party at Nipclub! The Blue Moon was officially Sunday, May 31st, so the moon was almost full, waxing gibbous, and was quite luminous.

As Gator had no avatars ready that week, I put on an old space-themed android/replicant outfit in my ship prior to my arrival at the bar.

Pearl and K-Boi were there; and Miss Moo had just finished her barktending shift and handed it over to Pearl. Pearl started with the sweets, as was her custom. She served mason jars of Blue Line moonshine and blue macarons! The moonshine was very strong, so I only tasted it.

P and Jeego arrived talking about their coastal weather; they were having a heatwave. Pearl had cloudy, slightly cooler weather in the desert Southwest.

K-Boi mentioned that “da lady” had worked in the yard all day tackling big weeds and he needed to call it a night, so he didn’t stay late. Moo and I sat at the bar before I went on my sekurity rounds, and Pearl served everyone more blue cocktails.

Louis inquired about LATE NITE and noted K-Boi’s rumored DJ role and creation of a unique later playlist. I mentioned that “da lady” was tired, so not likely.

Alfie was in the DJ booth spinning the moon-themed classic music like Moonage Daydream by David Bowie. We love the classic music at Nipclub.

Alfie’s parents got a new rescue kitty; a fluffy brown tabby named Kirby, but his real name is Cerberus. We were excited to hear about Kiby’s story, and Alfie shared some cute photos of the cat.

Mizz Bassie and Harvey Button showed up; we hadn’t seen Harvey for a week! We all helped Alfie pick out a second name for Cerberus / Kirby. I suggested Hades, and then Heracles.

Alfie liked Hades, and there were a few other brilliant suggestions. He started a list of potential names and will review them before they decide on a second name.

Angus filled the tip jar for our charity of the month, Black Cat Rescue, also known as BCR, and helpfully suggested others add to their fund, which helped my security watch. There was not much spammer activity despite all the interest in BCR.

Shortly afterwards, Angus went into the DJ booth and played more moon-themed tunes for LATENITE, and Pearl made blue corn quesadillas with fresh pico de gallo.

We all had a great time eating and drinking spectacular blue-hued cocktails, and we talked about themed music playlists, blue corn, and the recipe for that great Russian Blue cocktail that Pearl made!

As usual, Pearl left after her shift and I carried on behind the bar for a while longer while Louis, Angus, Mizz Bassie, and I chatted about pet nicknames, and I served blue moon-themed snacks and a blueberry tartlet with catpurrccino in blue cups and saucers.

Mizz Bassie wanted tea instead of a coffee drink, so I obliged her with a nice cup of hot tea while I cleaned up. I distributed takeout containers after closing the bar for the evening.

Until next week!

Nipclub May 21, 2026, Sekurity Update by Slinky, @Slinky_the_Cat, Sekurity Agent, Late Nite shift

It’s time for a Sunday drive on a Thursday night!

It was a lazy afternoon…. I pulled up in my 1954 Buick Skylark convertible, creamy yellow with a red interior. Swanky!

Pearl was there with her dune buggy and started serving the sweets: classic-car shaped cookies. Moo left, but said she’d be back later. Ragamuffin finished work with minimal news, save one tender toe bean. The v-e-t said she would be fine and the toe bean wasn’t broken; we even saw the X-rays! The new JustGiving charity link didn’t seem to attract spammers like the other thing we used to use.

Raven pulled up in a deep rose-pink Cadillac convertible, circa 1955. It was purrfect! Her bestie, Sprinkles the hamster, was riding in the car with her. We don’t see Sprinkles very often, so that was fun.

Raven said someone drove by and stole our donut holes earlier, though! K-Boi suddenly chimed in and said not to worry about the donut hole situation. It was just a minor infraction. Anyway, there were more donut holes and coffee to go with them! Pearl then made some beautiful fruity cocktails, and I decided on the meowjito.

Angus showed up and wanted to go for a ride in one of our vintage cars, so I said I would give him a ride later. P and Jeego arrived, with Jeego wearing a Seattle Mariners ball cap; they love their sports teams!

Alfie was in the DJ booth. I checked the sekurity cameras and then I went outside to check the grounds. Pearl served delicious lobster with butter sauce, and the lobster-flavored butter was so good. Mizz Bassie arrived just in time for anything buttery!

We had some newcomers: Amber and her cute tortie cat, Precious! We all welcomed them to Nipclub and hope they can stop by every week. It’s always nice to see new anipals!

Pearl served up classic drive-in fare: burgers, fries, Cokes, milkshakes, and ice cream, all on those little trays that hook onto your car window.

So inventive!

Next, we enjoyed a ride in the Skylark. Mizz Bassie, Angus, and Louis climbed in and I drove us towards the beach. It was a perfectly warm evening, with the breeze in our fur! The smell of frangipani blossoms was intoxicating, along with the sound of waves hitting the shore.

K-Boi showed up in his custom 1957 Chevy! It’s beyond cool, and that V-8 engine has its own special rumble. We cruised along the shoreline, then returned to the bar for further merriment.

Pearl went home, and I stayed and served some meowjitos and shrimp empanadas while Angus played music. K-boi played a song, too. We talked about boat-like huge vintage cars, and I served a nightcap layered shot with Kahlua and marzipan-stuffed dates as a sweet reprise.

I was getting tired, so it was time to wrap it up.

I enticed Louis and Angus with to-go bags of nice snacks like car-shaped cookies and burgers and bid them adieu.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Until next week!

The theme was Bridgerton, which is an American TV romance series set in the English Regency period of high society.

I had never heard of it, and had yet to watch it, but Regency-era speech? Let’s do this!

Mr. Gator procured elegant dress uniforms for us, and they called the security “The Bow Street Runners.” I employed the Regency period dialect, circa England 1811-1820, for the duration of the Nipclub soiree.

Upon my arrival, Mr. Gator was discoursing on the hiring of goats to consume invasive flora on his acreage. Mr. Gator remarked sekurity had a calm time of it, as there was a distinct lack of activity this evening, to which I replied, “I am quite relieved to learn of the area’s freedom from criminal activity.”

We partook of delectable victuals such as one might find at a high English tea: Comté cheese tartlets, raspberry charlotte cake, cucumber finger sandwiches, Pimm’s cup, and the like.

The fare was most agreeable.

Mr. Gator mentioned goat cheese, chèvre, and we engaged in conversation regarding cheeses, and even a fetching Pinot noir with a chev upon the label.

Mizz Bassie confessed she had to consult the records on Bridgerton, whilst I admitted I did not consult the records; I simply embraced the Regency style with abandon. It proves a tad tedious employing the translator, but it was such a delight to surprise one’s companions with high-society Regency parlance.

Mr. Gator’s wine was exceptional, and we sipped wine whilst conversing about fine cheeses and fruit pairings.

Crime was virtually nonexistent, even when sharing our charity of the week link. Slow and steady, as my iPaw met an ill fate by crashing, even after the latest update.

TJS made a brief appearance, as is they were wont, and Mr. Louis inquired after Mr. Angus, to determine if he might play music; alas, technological difficulties beset him as well, and he could not grace the party in person.

Mr. Louis was holding forth on his new Android tablet, avowing it to be the most superlative device imaginable! He inquired what I employed; I possess an iPaw, which has functioned admirably until this evening, of course.

Mr. Louis chattered on, oblivious of the Regency theme.

Mr. Louis determined to partake of refreshments, and sampled the stuffed chicken, gin fizz, and delightful cake. Tonight’s repast was refined, visually pleasing, and delicious.

Raven graced us with her presence and was greatly impressed by my Regency-era English. Miss Pearl DM’d me, relating that she had been shadow banned, thus I assumed responsibility for the bar for the last three quarters of an hour.

Mr. Louis, Miss Raven, and I remained; Miss Raven departed after a time, and Mr. Louis and I partook of after-dinner drinks. Mr. Louis expressed a desire to sample the beef Wellington, thus I obliged him with a delectable repast.

We chatted, sipped our beverages, and I tidied up and departed in my awaiting carriage.

It was a lovely evening!

Until next week!

We’re in the Netherlands for the Tulip Festival!

When I arrived, I started practicing my Dutch, and Grok was translating decently. I finally resorted to English because thinking became too taxing and it got a little tedious.

Pearl was talking about the Chilipawty planned for this weekend. Gator made typical Dutch food such as bitterbollen (deep-fried cocktail meatballs), and stamppot with wurst (potato-vegetable casserole with sausage). We talked about stamppot, which is something my humans make occasionally, mainly during cool weather months. They often make a version with no meat. Countless versions appear, including some with cheese.

Gator made delicious, tiny, yeasted pancakes, poffertjes. I’ve never had them before! There was also a lot of beer drinking and food talk.

It’s quiet tonight as many are planning behind the scenes for Chilipawty. It’s a tremendous event, with prizes, music, food, drinks… it goes on for hours, past midnight!

Pearl, Gator and I were talking about poffertjes pans with all the dimples, and I had this idea that you could make tiny flying saucer burgers. Then we started talking about the saucer-shaped burgers served at the Seattle Center, back in the day, during the Seattle World’s Fair, and were called “Spaceburgers”.

Gator stayed late and served a special dish of tulip bulbs with steak (so exotic!) and that led to an entire conversation about the edibility of a tulip bulb. Were they poisonous (yes, if not prepared correctly), and does anyone eat these except during wartime?

The steak tasted superb; the tulips proved acceptable. Parsnips or leeks would have been okay too, though.

For LATE NITE, it was way too quiet because no one was playing music. I asked Louis if he wanted to play something. No one had seen Angus, but of course he showed up right away and went into the DJ booth and started playing an eclectic mix of Celine Dion, Foreigner, and The Pretenders.

Louis, Angus, and I stayed late, chatting and listening to music.

I served some poffertjes with fresh berries and cognac as a nightcap, and Louis said goodbye shortly after. Angus played a couple more songs, including Alice Cooper, and then it was time to go.

We needed to rest up for the Chilipawty!

Until next week!

Nipclub April 30, 2026

Nipclub April 30th, 2026, Sekurity Update by Slinky, @Slinky_the_Cat, Sekurity Agent, Late Nite shift

It is staff appreciation night again; this time for the team at Snick’s Sekurity! I finally got my appreciation night! Does that mean I have the night off? A sekurity officer’s work is never done! It means I can relax, have fun, and not worry about interlopers tonight.

Alfie was setting up in the DJ booth when I walked in, and he announced I was on duty. I wore a tuxedo tonight; a tuxie cat in a tux. It seemed like the party called for something extra!

Angus and Pearl were already there; Pearl was behind the bar and always liked to start with the sweets first, so she put out a tray of cookies shaped like badges, squad cars, donuts and handcuffs! They were amazingly cute. Plus, there were sweet and colorful cocktails!

Harvey was there, and he mentioned his mum was tired. He’d been experimenting with editing software called Canva, and it piqued my interest. He’s working on logo design for the C.W.A., the Cat Writers Association. I wasn’t familiar with the group, but it sounded interesting. The logo design example he showed looked nice.

Mizz Bassie arrived when Angus and I were talking about tequila, specifically Patron tequila. His new, stylish haircut drew attention, making his short, curly tail appear more attractive. Most of his floof was gone!

Pearl and Harvey were talking about sci movies and books while we were sitting at the bar, having drinks. The discussion was about a book that was hard science fiction as opposed to fantasy Sci-Fi; the book was called Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. It sounded great, so I added it to my Kindle queue.

TJS appeared, and I asked if he was staying, as it was our party! TJS stayed this time, which was very unusual! Pearl made espresso niptinis, and we danced all over the place.

LATE NITE started, and Moo showed up for it and wanted to have a drink with me! She was mostly incognito earlier, so this was a pleasant surprise! Angus and Raven tag-teamed the music, and Pearl made gigantic blue margaritas.

Pearl mentioned a swarm of honeybees at her house, and we all talked about different bees like the Africanized bees, native bees, and the friendly black carpenter bees, etc.

Harvey showed us a photo of the cutest black bird called a black robin. It’s so cute it looks like a cartoon bird.

No one was in the DJ booth, so I snuck in and played a couple of classic ‘70s rock and roll songs: Aerosmith’s “Last Child” and Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir”.

It was late and time for Pearl to head out, so I went behind the bar and made some Thai-spiced fresh oysters and more drinks. Then I made some B-52 shot cocktails and served them with matching music- “Love Shack” by the B-52s!

Time to make dessert as Angus jumped into the DJ booth and played a yacht rock set, including the classic one-hit wonder by Looking Glass, “Brandy”. I mentioned that there is a brilliant cover of that song by the Red Hot Chili Peppers on their Live in Hyde Park album from several years ago.

It was time to wind it down, since it was just the two of us left. I set out a couple of to-go bags with leftover pizza and cookies, locked up the bar, and we both headed out.

Until next week!

Nipclub April 23, 2026, Sekurity Update by Slinky, @Slinky_the_Cat, Sekurity Agent, Late Nite shift

Nipclub April 23, and tonight was Barktenders Appreciation Night! I could wear any past Sekurity uniform, so I wore the same shirt from last week.

K-Boi was there when I arrived and was already talking about staying for LATE NITE, just like he used to last year. His consistently impressive playlists made me excited for that!

Pearl started off with the dessert course and serving gorgeously decorated flower cookies and colorful cocktails. I told Pearl how much we appreciate our barktenders, so she started pouring shots for everyone, and then I stuffed the tip jar.

Nothing like tequila shots and cookies!

Nothing super interesting on the sekurity cameras and feed, but I went outside and did a sweep of the grounds after I finished my drink.

Mizz Bassie and P and Jeego were here, and I saw Angus pop in.

Now Pearl served us fresh lobster pasta with catnip butter, and everyone took notice once the lobster came out of the kitchen. The catnip butter was addictive!

TJS popped in briefly, as usual, but didn’t stay this time.

Moo was excited about a great holiday weekend planned. It’s Anzac Day in Australia, which is like the United States’ Veterans Day, with festivities and special events.

LATE NITE officially started with K-Boi in the DJ booth, with a great blues set! Moo and I had a drink together at the bar and listened to Denise LaSalle, ZZ Hill, Little Milton, and watched a video of Danny Gaston playing slide guitar with a beer bottle wrapped in a dish towel.

There were never-ending cocktails, fresh wood-fired pizza, and Pearl made baked Alaska dessert!

We really appreciate those barktenders!

More drinks, more music, and some discussion about daytime temperatures, which vary depending on where you live, especially in the springtime.

K-Boi’s excellent set ended after about an hour, and he headed out. K-Boi’s return to the LATE NITE set, which he used to perform weekly before taking a break, earned much praise and felt like a return to familiar days. I hope he’s back next week.

Pearl left at the end of her shift, so I stayed another 45 minutes and played barktender for the LATE LATE NITE crowd, which was Raven, Mizz Bassie, Louis, and Angus. The four of them played music for the rest of the regulars while I put on my barktender’s apron and paired iconic cocktails with elegant appetizers such as martinis with crispy potato skins and Negronis with salmon and caper toasts.

We hung out for a while longer, and I served dessert and drinks to wind down the night: cognac and grilled pears with blue cheese and walnuts.

Containers held potato skins, pears, or cookies for those wishing to take them home. We had such great food tonight, and it’s always great to share rather than throw it out.

After saying goodbye, I readied the bar for the next weekly party and locked up.

Until next week!

April 16 2026 Nipclub

Nipclub April 16, 2026, Sekurity Update by Slinky, @Slinky_the_Cat, Sekurity Agent, Late Nite shift

It’s Music Night, DJ’s Choice at Nipclub! Sekurity could wear whatever, so I looked in my extensive uniform wardrobe for just the right look and I chose something simple and casual.

When I arrived, we were trending on X! Alfie the #FurryTails barktender (@TheHugHouse) was there and played music in the DJ booth. He jumped in just as I arrived; K-Boi had been playing music for the prior hour.

What a great surprise!

TJS greeted everyone enthusiastically while I tried to find out how to get a drink. Mizz Bassie arrived and was feeling fabulous, which was great because we missed her last week.

Gator had been here for a while, as usual.

The dance floor was full. Alfie played some fun music, like songs from The Beastie Boys, Bowling for Soup, Jack White, and Cake….

I listened to the splendid music while I checked the sekurity cameras and video feed from the last hour to see if anything interesting showed up.

Moo served cheeseburger sliders with spicy pickles, and they were delicious, along with Aperol Spritzers.

Angus was present but unseen because he apparently had his cloak of invisibility on. Or maybe it was his dark glasses? He couldn’t see us, but we could see him!

Mizz Bassie displayed a photo depicting her fully blossomed, yellow tabebuia tree. She mentioned they are a riot of color when they are blooming next to jacaranda trees where she lives.

Many saw Angus in the bar, seemingly resolving his affliction. He then declared his intention to perform some music.

George the duck showed up! He’s a rare bird once the sun goes down, and it’s always fun when he shows up.

Pearl served guitar-shaped cookies and bacon beer, and Louis showed up just in time for LATE NITE. Moo and I sat next to each other at the bar, catching up.

Angus was in the DJ booth, starting off with 1980s hair metal. Such fun music to dance to and listen to, especially when accompanied by an enormous plate of deluxe nachos! We enjoyed nachos and listened to Quiet Riot, Def Leppard, and Poison, and talked about boom boxes and cassette tapes. Angus didn’t know that the Quiet Riot classic “Cum on Feel the Noize” was a cover of an original song by Slade, which was an English glam rock group!

Then Gator played the Gloria Jones original version of Tainted Love… more minds blown! We listened to more music, and there was a discussion about cover songs and perpetually covered songs like “Jolene” and some of Johnny Cash’s excellent covers.

Pearl left at her usual time, and K-Boi came back to join us for a bit until closing; Gator and I tag-teamed and played a few more songs. I dipped into Delta Blues with Son House and a cover of a Blind Willie Johnson song by Tom Waits. Gator and I talked about music, and I played one more song in the same vein: a Robert Johnson tune.

I served up night caps and buttery popcorn while Gator and I schemed about a future cover music Nipclub party.

Gator and I closed the bar, and Gator spotted a spammer zombie on the way out. I give him credit for nabbing the sekurity risk!

Until next week!
