We celebrated World Lake Day at Nipclub!
We celebrated World Lake Day by boating; it’s a grand summer celebration of boats, campfire food, and fun! We reminisced about two Nipclub friends who are no longer with us: Petie the Cat and human Momma Louise. I vaguely remember Petie and girlfriend Pandafur. We miss our lovely, kind friends and have lots of glorious memories.
Moo had grilled salmon with blackened seasoning and fresh asparagus ready when I arrived, made over an open fire! Gator, Mizz Bassie, and Sir Pickle were already there, along with K-Boi, and I asked how he was doing after Ragamuffin had passed. Ragamuffin has graduated to an Angel Nipclub member and will still be around! K-Boi was doing okay, and it was nice to see him as usual.
Mizz Bassie said Armani the cat was not feeling well and had to go to the vet on Monday. Hopefully, he’ll feel better soon.
Pearl served “Life is better at the lake” frosted cookies and lemonade. Gator was excited about the eclipse visible at his house and possibly northern lights, so he dragged his human outside and disappeared from the conversation multiple times. Gator said it was a blood moon eclipse!
Pearl shared a photo of a sleeping (or hiding) bat that she spotted at her human’s home in the evening. Apparently, it was different but larger than they usually see. We all agreed that bats are exceptional creatures!
This time, Moo tempted me with additional lemonade that featured vodka, crushed ice, and plentiful mint. Delish! Pearl made grilled lake trout stuffed with lemon wedges and wrapped in bacon. So fresh!
We reminisced about Petie and Pandafur. I especially remember Pandafur, the floofy lady cat. She was lovely. I haven’t seen her lately, but apparently, she’s still around. Gator said he remembered their wedding, but I’m not sure I was there. I attended Catty Boy and Pandora’s wedding as a guest, though. I had the invitation and photos to prove it! That was back when Nipclub had a wedding planner.
Pearl set out more delicious cocktails and all the s’mores fixings so we could roast marshmallows over the campfire and make warm, gooey, delicious s’mores. Louis and Angus were like the Glimmer Twins; they showed up for LATENITE simultaneously, ready to party and play music!
Gator found another wedding photo album and shared a few more old photos. Glorious memories! Gator and others also shared eclipse photos of the moon that were fuzzy but interesting. Louis had a summer playlist queued up, and he started us off with a tune by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Amber and Precious shared some eclipse photos, and I found some others had posted since it was cloudy in Jakku.
I met a new cat that evening, Gen. Viper, of the Cat World Domination Army, which was started by Gen. Cattis. He looks a bit like Angus, a slightly floofy black cat. We’re following each other now. Hopefully, he’ll check out Nipclub in the future.
Summer shandies and snacks were flowing, and Louis played Otis Redding and the TLC classic “Waterfalls”. He played more music by Bob Seger, Joe Satriani, The Beach Boys, and more.
Pearl went home. I took over the bar and served tequila shots and taquitos with fresh summer flavors while we listened to music by the lake and looked at the moon. Angus craved a hot dog, so I made a bacon-wrapped Sonoran Dog. That ended up being too fancy, so I made him a regular ballpark hot dog!
I made some campfire skillet brownies and coffee lattes, and we listened to music in the moonlight before I started making to-go boxes for everyone before closing up for the night.
Another fun, relaxing evening!
