Well, we know Chandler @dog_phoebe loves cake, and has a fun Christmas planned exploring and keeping the area zombie and squirrel free!
We spoke to Truman @tweetingtruman and found out about Mistletoe Magic and the Anipal Times.
We had an interactive show where we thought about what we are thankful for. With Thanksgiving, we are all very thankful for friendship and having food in our tummies.
TJ @TJS12145 also came onto the show to yell at us about their on-and-off Twitter commitments.
We featured lots of pets in rescue needing homes, and hoping that the featured pets find their forever homes soon.
Paws crossed for Mike in Leicester, Sonny in Missouri, Buscuit in Wales, Pistachio in Texas, and all the other pets in the rescue centres.
We have a fun-filled diary of guests planned, so we look forward to seeing you all for the shows next month.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
Love and hugs, Millie, Pixie, and the #OTLFP team.
The Anipal Holiday Bazaar premiered on Bluesky this past Saturday, as a noteworthy occasion after two earlier Twitter events. Peyton, who organized and created the event, brought together a fantastic team, resulting in a day filled with exciting activities.
It kicked off at 7 am with opening ceremonies with Peyton and the official spokes-snowman, Yoshi! Early morning events included ice hockey, snow hill sledding, and stalls with gifts and refreshments.
Multiple organizations participated in the event, including Furry Tails, Hedgewatch, Paws4Music, and JerrysCucina, among others.
I participated in the afternoon and night sessions. During the day, I opened up TJ’s Sports Shack, where I sold all your sports needs for the holiday season.
Then, after the afternoon closing ceremonies (which included Angel Avi ringing the bell and silent fireworks), the evening session began! I had a Paws4Music DJ set where I spun Christmas tunes. The evening included our very own Truman’s world-famous Pub quiz, more stalls, including Marlin’s Bonvire, Fuzz and Fiddy’s festive crochet, Rebel’s wishing well, #SundayPaws, and Bunty’s Hot Chocolate bar, just to name a few.
Then we had closing remarks from the wonderful Peyton, and the inaugural Anipal Holiday Bazaar on Bluesky ended. There was a special late-night Jerry’s Cucina where Jerry and I served the always delicious Cucina food! It was such an amazing time, and I am already looking forward to the 2026 Anipal Holiday Bazaar!
Purrrr, It’s Mr. Breeze here. Since I’m going to be writing for The Anipal Times I thought it would be a fine thing to post an intro.
In 2007 when I was a few months old I escaped from my home and got lost. I was begging at random doors for food. Then I met a stripey cat. She was eating all kinds of stuff so I followed her home. I hung out under da pine tree watching her humans barbecue. They fed me grilled shrimp because I was getting skinnier by da day. I named myself “Mr. Breeze” because I blew into their yard.
Da stripey cat’s humans called around everywhere trying to find my family. Da lady walked me around da neighborhood asking everybody if I was theirs. No dice. Who doesn’t look for their sweet panfur???
Da lady had been in a car accident and didn’t feel she could make a 20 year commitment to a young cat so she gave me to a rescue along with a ton of cash. I was kind of sad but da rescue lady was very nice and I made lots of barn cat friends.
A couple of months later da rescue lady to a pet expo.Da rescue lady was holding me like a baby, cooing and tickling my belly. MOL!! Suddenly da lady and my daddy showed up. I was so happy to see them and they adopted me right away. I was so happy to see my pine tree again. And then we went inside and there was the stripeycat and a spicy black cat. Their names were @sisfurcats Bugs and Chilipepper!
When I was young I liked to play sticks wif da lady. I liked to hang out on da front porch looking handsome for da neighbors. I sometimes hunted. I climbed trees like a big panfur. I even liked to play in da snow!
As it turned out, I was very photogenic. Dis photo motivated da lady to get me social media accounts. In 2009 I landed on twitter and found lots of anipals here! I even started my own bloggy, Call Me The Breeze.
I loved my sisfurs Bugs and Chilipepper. I was especially sad when Chilipepper went OTRB. I walked around da house crying for her. When Bugs went OTRB da vet gave me my very own kitten, @sisfurcats Ragamuffin. (2016)
I loved to snuggle my daddy. And I trained da lady to give me treats when I held out my paw. I loved to meet new people and give them headbutts. I even got to meet some of my [@kittehboi483] Pokémon GO pals in da park. I wasn’t keen on the car but so many scritches!!
In 2024 I went OTRB after a long illness. @Sisfurcats Ragamuffin still misses me. And of course my humans do too. My mommy wants to get an older cat for her. Hopefully they can become friends. I’ve been talking to the Cat Distribution System about it.
I still hang out wif my pals on twitter/X. DJing, of course. I like learning about new (to me) music to make playlists for pawties. I make graphics with GIMP, and and enjoy learning how to use effects for pawty banners. Check out Put Your Paws in da Air for some of my work I’m learning to make AI images with NightCafe Studio. It’s tempting to let @nightcafestudio design the pawty banners, but I like using GIMP too. I’m still blogging for #pawgaritaville, #nipclubextra, #OwensBlackpaw, and #catmaseve. I have fun putting ChatGPT through its paces. I sporadically post interesting conversations on my Just Some AI blog.
My favorite book is “Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs?” by Caitlin Doughty. This humorous book answers questions like “Why Don’t Animals Dig Up All The Graves?” and “Can I Give Grandma A Viking Funeral?” Makes a perfect gift for morbid children.
I’m glad you could join me on The Anipal Times. We are going to have so much fun!
Cats didn’t start as mousers. Weasels and snakes and dogs are more efficient as rodent-control agents. I postulate that cats started as psychic companions, as Familiars, and have never deviated from this function. —William S. Burroughs, “The Cat Inside“
When December arrives, we think about major winter holidays like Christmas and Hanukkah. We also think about Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, the winter solstice, Yule, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve, taking stock of everything from the year, and setting New Year’s Resolutions.
December doesn’t have as many animal holidays and observations as other months, but there are still some important ones!
The only December Animal Monthly Observation is:
National Cat Lovers Month
Daily holidays during the first week include:
December 1 – 24: Operation Santa Paws • December 1: Cyber Monday (Monday after Thanksgiving) • December 1: National Twin With Your Dog Day • December 2: National Mutt Day (also July 31) • December 4: International Cheetah Day • December 4: Wildlife Conservation Day • December 4: Celebrate Shelter Pets Day (First Thursday after Thanksgiving)
My name is Bob and I am going to be your resident Agony Uncle on Anipal Times from December.
Please come along and support this wonderful publication, the Anipal Times, with lots of fab features, articles, puzzles, and musings.
Hope to be able to help you all soon with things like my human is trying to trick me by breaking my treat in half, or my human made me have a bath after I had just gotten my Au’D’Fox just perfect. You name it, and will can solve these dilemmas together.
Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring—it was peace. — Milan Kundera, “The Unbearable Lightness of Being“
This is the first official post for Caturday Confessions!
Who was naughty this week?
I’ll start.
I have two water bowls. One is a stainless steel bowl that’s my favorite to drink from. The other is a plastic ‘travel’ bowl with a rimmed lid that’s supposed to make it spill-proof. I learned how to pry that rimmed lid off about a week after Mom brought the bowl home, but that’s another conversation. I use that bowl to wash my paws after I use my litterbox. I don’t like when the litter gets on my paws, and that water bowl is perfect for washing. I’ve been seeing how far I can splash the water while I’m cleaning my paws. I proudly splash water several feet away from my bowl.
Hello friends and readers! My name is Squirt. I was an avid reader of the Anipal Times, and I’m so excited that it’s back! This edition promises to surpass its predecessors; therefore, I am honoured to write for the inaugural issue of this fresh publication!
Although, as will become clear, this will not be a regular column about me.
I think many of you will know me from Twitter as @SquirtTheCat, and you may also know that I peacefully strolled across the Rainbow Bridge earlier this year. Please don’t feel sad for me! I had a good, long life full of love and adventure, and I made the most of every single day.
However, I couldn’t bear the thought of my house and my humans without a cat, so I set out to point them toward not one, but two rescue kittens. Trickle is a ginger boy (like me) born on May 10th this year. His former feral mother birthed offspring inside the rescue and then pursued existence elsewhere as a neutered farm cat.
Trickle
Rescuers found Matilda, a pretty black and white kitten, alone in a supermarket car park. They estimate she is about a month old, like Trickle, the other kitten. Our phenomenal local cat lady, who also runs a rescue centre, nursed her back to health because she was starving, filthy, and close to death.
Matilda Crossed Paws
Staff and Manstaff brought both kittens home on July 20th.
I can watch my home and family from the Bridge, allowing observation of the kittens settling and becoming familiar with their forever dwelling. I’ve been eavesdropping on their conversations.
Are you curious about kitten chatter? Observe this! I’m going to share their chat with you.
This column isn’t about me, so Matilda, Trickle, it’s over to you….
M: “Remember the day we met?”
T: “Yeah, we didn’t know each other, we didn’t know the people in the car, and we didn’t know where we were going. That was a scary day.”
M: “The other cats I knew were huge! You were tiny.”
T: “I was the fourth-biggest kitten in the litter!”
M: “Tell me again, how many were in the litter?”
T: “Five.”
M: *rolls eyes*
T: “I thought you were cute.”
M: “I thought you were weird.”
T: “We’re alright though, aren’t we? You and I, we’re friends and… like brofur and sisfur.”
M: “Yeah, I suppose we are. I’m glad I’m not an only kitten anymore.”
T: “Do you think we look a bit alike?”
M: “You’ve been at the ‘nip, you have. “
T: “Have not.”
M: “Have. Have, have, have, have, have!”
T: *shakes head* “Girls…”
M “Wanna play? Tunnel chase?”
T: “Tired, could do with a nap.”
M: *shakes head* “Boys…”
Oh, those two kittens! I love to watch them and listen to them. Join me next time as I bring you more from them!
We are angel Angus McPusspuss and Furgus McPuspuss.
Both of us were older stray tomcats that found our forever homes late in life.
I, Angus, had a very special fox friend who led me to my pawrents’. Hunger drove me to join the foxes’ nightly food runs. One fox always made sure I had some food. Mummy and the neighbor, upon observing me, attempted everything to locate my owners, yet I possessed none, plus my chip held no registration. Mummy started feeding me more and inviting me inside, but it took me some time to be brave enough to move in. Even when settled in my home, I would still go out every evening and sit with my special foxy friend.
Because I moved in just before Storm Angus hit, my pawrents, following Scottish links, gave me the surname McPusspuss. I had been called Pusspuss when living outside.
When my time sadly came to go over the rainbow bridge, I guided Furgus to my pawrents. The rescue trapped him because of his poor state following a decade of living on the streets. He hissed and swiped, revealing his fear. No one was giving him a chance until my pawrents did. When secure and cherished, he unwound. Now, he desires laps frequently and bedtime cuddles. Furgus gets to enjoy his later years with so much love. Furgus continues the McPusspuss family name and was called Furgus as a link to our pawrents’ love of Deacon Blue (Fergus sings the blues).
We will write articles on the weather (I am #weathercat), nature, and more specifically on badgers, as Mummy is on the committee of the Badger Protection Group.
We will have wonderful guest writings for our column by Angel Alma. Alma and her mum are special friends to us.
