For a truly effective Op-Ed, follow these guidelines for a standard essay.
- Lede – grab the reader’s attention
- Argument – Should be based on credible evidence.
- 1st Point – Supporting evidence and a conclusion
- 2nd Point – More supporting evidence and another conclusion
- 3rd Point – Still more supporting evidence and yet another conclusion
- “To Be Sure” paragraph – state opposing opinions and why you disagree
- Conclusion – Sum it all up. A call for action really engages the reader.
